Make Architects Student Competition, 2019

The future social space will be technologically-equipped to enable people to interact without communicating physically. With the integration of sensors, segments of the street are able to inflate or deflate according to the emotions of each individual. When an individual notices another experiencing a negative mood (ground sinking), they would be able to approach and comfort them directly through verbal communication. Light strips embedded in the street then project images via an integrated hologram system depending on the emotions of a particular person. The ever-changing motion of the street creates an indirect relationship between the people on the street and the people below. In addition, the proposed 3D-printed exoskeleton below the street surface is designed to generate energy through compressions which would add an element of sustainability to the scheme.
